RSBP Fowlsheugh, Aberdeenshire

Date: August 13th, 2025

Conditions: Overcast

Location: RSPB Fowlsheugh coastal cliffs

Returning to Fowlsheugh a month after my last visit and nearly all of the Guillemot's and Razorbills have left the cliff nests and moved out to sea. The puffins too, are no where to be seen.

What was a whirlwind of seabirds in mid July is now still, save for the remaining Kittiwake chicks summoning up the courage to take that first leap from the red sandstone ledges. The adults have gone , and despite the calling out to be feed, this is do or die time now for the young birds.
